Winter installs are more demanding — frozen soil takes more effort to excavate, and cold-weather concrete cutting requires adjusted technique. But our crew is experienced with Calgary's conditions. We push through it.
The only things that stop us: active blizzard conditions and extreme Arctic temperature events that make outdoor work unsafe for our crew. Everything else, we handle.
Our full installation packages run $1,950–$2,650 + GST per window. This includes excavation, concrete cutting, the window itself (White Vinyl LOW-E Argon Gas, 3 egress styles), and a galvanized window well with stone. Optional add-ons are permit obtaining services, a custom wooden well upgrade, and interior finishing.
Under the Alberta Building Code, egress windows must have a minimum unobstructed opening of 0.35 m² (3.77 sq ft), with no single dimension smaller than 380 mm (15 inches). The sill must sit no higher than 1.5 metres above the finished floor.
Yes. A building permit from the City of Calgary is required for all new egress window installations. The fee starts at approximately $333.84. If your window well projects into a side setback, a development permit may also be required. We offer permit obtaining as an optional service.
Yes. We operate year-round in Calgary. Winter installs are more challenging due to frozen ground conditions, but we're experienced and equipped for it. The only things that pause our schedule are active blizzards and extreme Arctic temperature events.
In Calgary, casement, sliding, and hopper windows can all qualify as egress — provided they meet the minimum opening size requirements. Casement windows are generally the best choice as they swing fully open. Sliding windows work but require a larger frame since only half opens. Awning windows do not qualify as egress. We supply windows in three egress-compliant styles.
